Mother's Day was a great reason to drag the Corvette out of the garageā¦...not that we ever need a reason. Neil Bailey was the cruise captain for this run out to Nuriootpa. Once everyone was at the meeting point it was time to head to the hills. Club protocols were strictly followed with the compulsory U-turn been actioned early in the run. Morning tea stop was at Lobethal which gave everyone's stomach a chance to settle down after contending with the windy roads. The stragglers (Breck & Helen) joined the group in Lobethal to bring the total number of Corvettes to 5 plus a Subaru and a Mazda. The predicted bad weather may have kept numbers down but Neil kindly organised for the torrential downpour to be delayed until the next day. From Lobethal we headed through Gumeracha where we encountered traffic chaos with the annual Medieval Fair in full swing. After clearing the congestion we enjoyed a pleasant cruise through the Barossa to our lunch destination at Nuriootpa. While waiting for lunch our President got in touch with his artistic side and created a self-portrait masterpiece with only a couple of colouring in pencils!! He did cheat to be honest, the 'Cute Koala' picture was already drawn and he only had to colour it in.
The Angus Park Pub dished us up a great lunch with servings large enough to feed a small army! They also had a special treat in store for all of the mothers who received a complimentary desert.
A great day out was had by all, thanks very much to Neil for organising such a relaxing day out!
